Alumni Testimonials

I transferred to BGSU in January of 2004. I didn't know anyone, and I wanted a way to meet new people. I heard a classroom presentation in my accounting class and decided to go to the information session. I pledged in Spring of 2005, and had no idea what was in store for me. Becoming a Deltasig allowed me to sharpen my professional skills, lead a committee, serve on the executive board, and make lifelong friends that I wouldn't know what to do without. Delta Sigma Pi changed my life, and I know my college experience was amazing because of it.

Pledged Spring 2005

As some background, I pledged during Fall 2006 when I was beginning my Sophomore year at BG. I honestly joined to be able to meet people and other Greek life opportunities were not really “my cup of tea”. I loved that it was co-ed and something that would actually help you in the “real” world of business. I was extremely fortunate to meet so many people when I did. My husband and I pledged together (how we met) so this experience for me was much more than a college experience.

Two, more major, roles I had in the fraternity was SVP and I was Pledge Mama myself. These roles were so much fun and allowed me to be a stronger person individually. They really taught me how to lead people and be a representative of an organization which is what I am doing everyday in my current career with the J.M. Smucker Company.

I graduated with a BS in Economics and I am currently handling our company’s entire Forecast for the next two years on our Dunkin Donut’s Milestone, Folgers Gourmet Select, Cross & Blackwell, Dickinson’s and Nonesuch brands and I love my job and what I am doing. I never in a lifetime thought I would work for a Fortune 500 company and I have now been here since I graduated in May 2009. The other, smaller things, you learn in the fraternity would never have been exposed to me outside of that world and I am grateful for that. These smaller things helped me to get where I am today.

Pledged Fall 2006

When I was a student at BG, Delta Sigma Pi gave me the real-world experience that the classroom couldn’t give me and really prepared me for a career – not just a job. That’s what I was looking for when I joined. But being a part of DSP didn’t just teach me how to write a good cover letter. I did learn how to write a mean cover letter, but I also developed leadership skills needed to advance in my career and being a part of DSP allowed me to be part of a community. Pledging DSP was the best decision I made in college!
